SM Hypermarket is happy to serve Laoag City

The newest SM Hypermarket branch recently opened its doors to the residents and visitors of Laoag City.

The new store can be found in the historic Ilocano Heroes Hall, a symbol of the Ilocano’s patriotism.  It has, through the years, also come to represent the province’s long-standing love for hard work, and their dedication to improving the lives of all Filipinos.

That is why it is only fitting that it is the building chosen to house the first SM Hypermarket in the city, an enterprise that will bring in tax income, will give rise to increased commerce to the surrounding areas and hundreds of jobs for the local community,

“With the establishment of Task Force Trabaho (TFT), the investment of SM Hypermarket is undeniably a step closer to our goal of securing jobs for every Ilocano,” said Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos.

Preserving culture as well as the environment

Recognizing the noble building’s value as a landmark and cultural treasure, SM Hypermarket has taken extra care to preserve its structure and look.  It is the company’s way of showing respect to the local way of life, and to the history and culture that the Heroes Hall represents.

“From a heritage building and retail area used for baratillo/tiangge during town fiestas and Christmas, Ilocano Heroes Hall now must be the best looking SM Hypermarket in the entire archipelago!” quipped Governor Marcos.

But the Laoag store is about more than preserving the local history – it’s also a pioneering branch of SM Hypermarket, one that is experimenting with new technology to lower its carbon footprint.  The Laoag Hypermarket branch will make use of solar tubes to harness the energy of the sun for part of the store’s operating needs.  This will drastically conserve much needed energy by using natural lighting for the store’s daily operations.

Heroes Hall becomes Laoag’s newest shopping destination

The Ilocano Heroes Hall is buzzing with life again.  The public is invited back to its historic halls to herald yet another spike in the region’s economic growth, the opening of SM Hypermarket Laoag.

The building, located in the civic center of Laoag City and across the Provincial Capitol, is now a commercial hub. Its magnificent façade and structure are preserved, and inside it hosts a bustling store where you can buy practically all of your household needs.

SM Hypermarket Laoag’s prestigious roster of tenants includes Watson’s pharmacy, National Bookstore, BDO Consumer Lending Division Regional Office, David’s Salon, Tom’s World and food shops Mang Inasal, McDonald’s dessert station, Hap Chan, Buko ni Fruitas, Master Siomai and Goto ni Juan.
